stew.ard.ship
noun
the conducting, supervising, or managing of something; especially: the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care - Merriam-Webster Dictionary
I ask myself this question all the time - AM I BEING A GOOD STEWARD OF MY BODY?
I've been entrusted with a healthy body, and it shows if I'm not being a good steward of it.
Being A Good Steward...of My Body: What that means to me
- Eating well and eating right
- Fueling my body so I can approach life full of energy
- Looking in the mirror and being grateful for what I see...even if some days are better than others
- Being active through exercise and adventure
- Pushing my physical limits so that I can witness how strong God created my body to be
What does being a good stewad of your body mean to you?
How I Got Here?
Growing up as a preacher's daughter, I heard about the concept of stewardship quite often. However, what it meant to me then and what it means to me now are very different. At a young age I understood stewardship to mean that I needed to be grateful for and take care of the things that were given to me. Maybe I needed to bring a toy in before it rained or take a doll out of the driveway so it didn't get run over by the family car :) As I got older, the concept evolved and I'd ask myself, "Am I being a good 'steward' of my money"? To me this meant I needed to spend less than I made, save even if I didn't want to and give to others even when I didn't think I could. Before I knew it, I'd contemplate whether or not I was being a good steward of my job, my time, my church and other things and people I'd been blessed with in my life.
It seems totally normal for people to speak of how they use their money, take care of their possessions, treat their children and care for many other things and people that God has entrusted to their care.
BUT...
It is rare to hear people speak of applying the same concept of stewardship to their bodies?
